Mary McCartney is to direct a documentary on Abbey Road Studios, it has been announced.
If These Walls Could Sing is to be released to coincide with the studio’s 90th anniversary celebrations, which will begin in November 2021.
The documentary is to offer a behind-the-scenes look at the studio and explore its history, and is being made by Mercury Studios, the media production division of Universal Music Group. It is produced by John Battsek and directed by photographer and filmmaker Mary McCartney, the daughter of Paul and Linda McCartney.

Some of my earliest memories as a young child come from time spent at Abbey Road. I’ve long wanted to tell the story of this historic place, and I couldn’t be collaborating with a better team than John and Mercury Studios to make this creative ambition a reality.
Mary McCartney
Originally known as EMI Studios, Abbey Road Studios opened in 1931 in St John’s Wood, London. Originally used for classical recordings, it was made world famous by The Beatles, who made the vast majority of their recordings there, and named their 1969 album Abbey Road after the location.
